Hokedake Park is conveniently located around 45 minutes’ drive from JR Miyazaki Station. Its vast, 35-hectare grounds are surrounded by natural splendor, and in them you will find a variety of facilities, including a grass ski area, a campsite, a dog run, a Japanese garden, tennis courts, and a mini golf course.
The grass ski area is one of the largest in Japan. Its natural green turf continues for around 250 meters and is managed by lawn specialists, so it is always in the best possible condition. The park also operates a sightseeing lift, offering wonderful views of the Miyazaki Plains and the Hyuga-nada sea from the top. You can also see a sky full of stars from the campsite.

Around 1,000 cherry trees and 500 rhododendrons bloom here in the spring, while the Jabun Ko Hiroba (a pool for young children) is a hugely popular attraction when it opens during the summer vacation. In the fall, you can climb Mount Shakagadake, stunning with bright autumn foliage, and winter offers grass sledding and skiing, so visitors are bound to have fun all year around. There’s even plenty of play equipment for small children, so you can make the most of the natural world from morning until night with your family.
