皇子原公園
Ojibaru Park

Full of myths and nature! You’ll be charmed by the play equipment that evokes the warmth of wood

Ojibaru Park lies at the foot of Mount Takachihonomine, the main peak of the Kirishima Mountains. This is a nature park centered around Ojibaru-jinja Shrine, which venerates the location said to be the birthplace of Emperor Jimmu, the fabled first emperor of Japan.
The “moori,” the large wooden play equipment covered by a roof, gives peace of mind not only on rainy days but also on hot summer days when the UV rays are strong. The wooden play equipment facility (Ojibaru-no-ki) houses wooden toys such as building blocks, and you can also enjoy indoor bouldering here.
In addition to the popular roller slide, the park also has a 1.2-kilometer long course for go-karts, which you can ride through its wonderful natural world. You can also try rainbow trout fishing and encounter small creatures such as rabbits and goats, making it a destination for everyone from children to adults to enjoy. It's also a good idea to take a walk along the trails to see a kofun (an ancient burial mound) and ancient-style residence, and feel the park’s historic romance.

After you’ve had your fill of play, why not plan to spend the night at the camp site? There are cottage buildings and a tent site area, so you can experience comfortable out-door life. You can also have a day-trip barbecue, so we also recommend this park for groups and families.
Kawazu-zakura and Yoshino cherry blossoms bloom in spring, while around 3 million red spider lilies color the park in the fall.
