母智丘公園
Mochio Park

Take a breather among two kilometers of cherry trees! The best place in the prefecture for cherry blossoms

This park is a famous destination for cherry blossoms with a long history, and was selected as one of Japan’s top 100 cherry blossom spots.
Around 2,600 cherry trees grow here, including Yoshino, yamazakura, and yaezakura (double-layered) cherry trees. When spring arrives, two kilometers of roadside trees show off their supreme beauty, creating a magical spectacle as if you’re traveling through a tunnel of pink. Mochio Shrine, standing on the top of a hill, offers the best position to look down on the park as a whole! The cherry blossom festival that takes place from the end of March to the start of April features folk entertainment, dances, and various other events, and bustles with large numbers of flower-viewing visitors each day.

In the park is a bell on a monument commemorating the planting of the trees, and it’s said that ringing it together with your loved one will bring you happiness. Why not try sounding the bell for yourself on your visit?
