A dragon rises! A power spot filled with the ancient romantic spirit of Hyuga
Udo-Jinja Shrine stands in a cave on the coast, around three minutes on the path east from the main building of Omi Shrine. It’s said to bless worshippers with safe childbirth, safety at sea, and safe travel, and has long been loved as “Udo-sama.”
The cave is a power spot dug by human hands—it’s said that if you stand in front of the shrine and look toward the entrance, you’ll see a silhouette like a rising dragon. It's thought that this can be traced back to the ancient faith in the dragon god in Hyuga.
Omi Shrine is a historic shrine that worships the sun goddess Amaterasu-Omikami, and is beloved as the “Ise Jingu of Hyuga.”
