Michi-no-eki Takachiho Roadside Station

A location with wonderful views, overlooking the picturesque Takachiho Gorge

You’ll find Michi-no-eki Takachiho next to the Shinto Takachiho Bridge on National Route 218—it’s a roadside station marked by a large monument based on a traditional kagura dance mask. Michi-no-eki Takachiho stands in an excellent location in the center of Takachiho, a town of myths and legends and one of Kyushu’s leading power spots, close to Takachiho-jinja Shrine, and with good views of the picturesque Takachiho Gorge, a place of scenic beauty and a designated national Natural Monument.
The bussankan offers rows of local produce and products from Takachiho, including fresh locally harvested vegetables, processed goods, and woodworking and bamboo goods such as yokagura masks. The attached restaurant serves an enjoyable menu with regional dishes made using local ingredients and Japan’s best Takachiho beef, which won the Prime Minister’s Award in the “Wagyu Olympics.” Feast on their popular chicken namban curry or exquisite Takachiho beef bowl as you admire the stunning landscape.
